Para o Misa, o assassinato de um jornalista é um grande revés para um país democrático, onde a imprensa é um pilar fundamental, pelo que o assassinato de João Chamusse merece ser condenado da forma mais veemente possível.
Através de um comunicado enviado aos órgãos de comunicação social, O Misa refere que só o esclarecimento do caso pode afastar a associação que está a ser feita, publicamente, do assassinato do jornalista e as suas posições críticas à governação da Frelimo, partido no poder, tanto na televisão como no Jornal onde ele liderava.
A Organização não governamental (ONG), diz ainda que o Governo moçambicano precisa de enviar uma mensagem clara de que não compactua e nem tolera assassinatos de quem quer que seja, muito menos de jornalistas.
Face a este recente acontecimento O MISA Moçambique convocou uma marcha marcha pacífica, no dia 18 de Dezembro de 2023, pelas 9h:00, que irá culminar com a submissão, na Procuradoria Geral da República de Moçambique, de uma petição sobre a impunidade dos crimes contra jornalistas, em Moçambique.
De acordo com uma comunicação feita para órgãos de comunicação social no exterior da PGR. A marcha terá como ponto de partida o Jardim Municipal Nangade (Antigo Dona Berta) e marcará a indignação e manifestação pública contra os inimigos das liberdades de imprensa e de expressão e a inacção das instituições do Estado contra os criminosos que violentam e ameaçam a classe jornalística em Moçambique, numa altura em que o País volta a assistir o assassinado bárbaro de mais um jornalista, João Fernando Chamusse.
