O ANC indicou que Mavuso Msimang continuará a servir o partido e após uma reunião na terça-feira, 12 de dezembro, facilitada pela Liga dos Veteranos.
Num comunicado divulgado quinta-feira pelo partido do governo, a organização referiu também que o seu Secretário-Geral, Fikile Mbalula, lamenta as declarações que fez sobre o Msimang no domínio público.
“A este respeito, estamos satisfeitos que o camarada Msimang tenha concordado em retirar a sua demissão e continuará a manifestar-se contra qualquer prevaricação que afecte os interesses da sociedade.
“O ANC procurará continuamente o conselho sábio dos anciãos do ANC em cujos passos seguimos. O SG lamenta ter feito comentários que impugnavam a integridade do Cde Msimang, sugerindo que ele era vulnerável a aceitar suborno de uma formação política recém-criada ou, nesse caso, de qualquer outra fonte”, disse o porta-voz do partido, Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri.
O ANC também se comprometeu a lidar rapidamente com membros indisciplinados, incluindo aqueles implicados na captura do Estado.
“Ao abordar as preocupações dos membros do ANC e, na verdade, de todos os sul-africanos, a liderança do ANC agirá com urgência para abordar o comportamento antiético e a falta de disciplina dos membros, incluindo os líderes do partido.
“Estamos determinados a que apenas membros cuja reputação seja irrepreensível sejam incluídos na nossa lista de candidatos ao Parlamento e às Legislaturas Provinciais. Isto significa que os implicados pela Comissão Zondo não serão incluídos nas nossas listas se os seus nomes não tiverem sido esclarecidos pela Comissão de Integridade do ANC”, diz a declaração.

Mbalula disse na semana passada que os veteranos estavam a fazer campanha contra o partido em vez de usarem a sua linha directa com a liderança do ANC para discutir as suas preocupações.
Msimang enviou então a sua carta de demissão na semana passada ao Secretário-Geral do ANC, Fikile Mbalula, e ao seu assistente e, em poucas horas, esta vazou em grupos de WhatsApp do ANC.
Na carta, Msimang levantou uma infinidade de questões que o partido não conseguiu resolver. Isto inclui o partido permitir que os seus membros implicados na captura do Estado sejam nomeados para servir no Parlamento e nas legislaturas provinciais nas eleições do próximo ano.
Mbalula então acusou Msimang de ter apresentado sua renúncia através da mídia e disse que o ex-vice-presidente da Liga dos Veteranos provavelmente se juntaria ao CEO cessante da FirstRand Roger Jardine novo grupo, a mudança começa agora.

Outra mentira deliberada de Mbalula é que anunciei a minha demissão do ANC através dos meios de comunicação social. Ele sabe muito bem que por volta das 15h50 do dia 6 de dezembro enviei um e-mail para ele e para seu PA, exclusivamente na Luthuli House.
“Só quando fui chamado pela mídia é que respondi para confirmar a veracidade desta… carta. Tive que controlar a narrativa da minha demissão. É realmente uma pena que o ANC tenha uma pessoa como Mbalula como secretário-geral. É uma vergonha.”
