A investigadora, que é também estudante do curso de pós-graduação, foi seleccionada num universo de 632 candidatas que concorreram para este certame.
As 632 candidaturas submetidas na edição deste ano são de 49 países da África Sub-Sahariana e foram avaliadas por 66 assessores de gabarito internacional e da esfera científica.
Na avaliação das candidaturas, foram seleccionados, em primeira instância, 140 trabalhos, que, por sua vez, foram escrutinados por um júri de 10 elementos, liderado pelo Professor Aggrey Ambali, do Program Funding Directorate at the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD).
Este júri elegeu 30 premiadas, entre as quais Felicidade Niquice, que participou com um projecto intitulado Avaliação e gestão de risco ocupacional: Hepatite B, C e HIV em profissionais de saúde dos hospitais da província de Inhambane.
Das 30 premiadas, 25 são estudantes de Doutoramento e cinco de Pós-Doutoramento.
Felicidade foi premiada na categoria de estudantes de Doutoramento, tendo recebido um prémio monetário.
No âmbito deste prémio, Niquice participou, durante uma semana, de uma formação em liderança, que abordou tópicos como liderança sob perspectiva de ser, assédio, comunicação assertiva, negociação e ética.
Esta é a segunda vez que o país é reconhecido neste contexto, sendo que a primeira foi há 10 anos. Trata-se de um prémio bastante competitivo e de grande impacto internacional, sendo que quatro das mulheres por ele laureadas vieram a ganhar um prémio Nobel. (RM/IMN)
