Estas medidas resultam da ocorrência de surtos de Influenza Aviária Altamente Patogénica, na República da Africa do Sul, reportados no dia 06 de Outubro corrente. Este facto, levou a intensificação das acções de prevenção e vigilância, tendo no passado dia 13 de Outubro de 2023, sido identificado uma suspeita de ocorrência de Influenza Aviaria no País, mais especificamente no distrito de Morrumbene-província de Inhambane, com registo de um aumento da mortalidade diária em poedeiras recentemente importadas da província de North West, Africa do Sul.
Do trabalho de investigação e das analises laboratoriais das amostras colhidas e testadas, efectuadas no Laboratório Central de Veterinária, indicou-se serem negativas a influenza causada pela estirpe H5 em teste realizado no dia 13 de Outubro de 2023 e positivas à influenza aviária, no diagnóstico realizado no dia 16 de Outubro de 2023, estando em curso a identificação da estirpe causadora da doença.
A Influenza Aviária (IA) é uma doença infecciosa das aves causada pelas estirpes do tipo A do vírus da Influenza Aviária que afecta aves e diferentes espécies de mamíferos, incluindo o homem. Face a esta situação apela-se as comunidades a:
a. Estarem vigilantes e reportarem imediatamente quaisquer casos de doença e de mortalidade de galinhas ou outras aves domestica e selvagens aos Serviços de Veterinária;
b. Cozer bem os produtos avícolas destinados ao consumo;
c. Melhorar os níveis de higiene pessoal e da comunidade (lavar as mãos antes e depois de manusear aves ou produtos avícolas);
d. Evitar manter pessoas junto com aves em espaços fechados;
e. Usar equipamento de proteção individual durante o manuseamento de aves e produtos avícolas nos locais de produção;
f. Divulgar junto das associações de avicultores, trabalhadores avícolas e avicultores do sector familiar, as medidas de prevenção e biossegurança a adoptarem para protecção das suas aves.
O MADER, determinou ainda:
a. Restrição de movimento de aves e produtos avícolas do distrito de Morrumbene,
b. Sequestro, sacrifício e destruição de todas as aves do aviário afectado (aves doentes e saudáveis);
c. Destruição de rações, resíduos, cama de aviário e outro tipo de material utilizado ou gerado pela produção avícola;
d. Desinfecção das instalações e equipamentos;
e. Uso de equipamento de protecção individual para os trabalhadores do aviário;
f. Recolha e destruição de ovos comercializados naquela província a partir do dia 15 de Setembro de 2023.
Tratando-se de uma doença transmissível ao homem, os Ministérios responsáveis pela saúde animal e saúde humana designadamente Ministério da Agricultura e Desenvolvimento Rural MADER (MADER) e Ministério da Saúde (MISAU) estão a trabalhar em coordenação na implementação das acções de resposta e mitigação da
doença.
