O acidente ocorreu por volta das 04h:50 da madrugada, na linha de Ressano Garcia, e envolveu um comboio de carga e um de transporte de passageiros, com 95 pessoas a bordo, disse Augusto Abudo, Director executivo dos CFM na região sul, citado pela imprensa local.
O comboio de mercadoria estava parado aguardando o cruzamento com o comboio de passageiros, que vinha de Ressano Garcia, região que faz fronteira com a África do Sul, e seguia para a cidade de Maputo.
Os 39 feridos ligeiros, cinco dos quais crianças, foram levados para o Centro de Saúde da Moamba, 31 tiveram alta hospitalar, quatro estão ainda em observação naquela unidade e outros quatro foram transferidos para o Hospital Provincial da Matola, avançou o responsável.
“O CFM lamenta profundamente o ocorrido e deseja rápida e completa recuperação aos passageiros e tripulantes afetados”, lê-se numa nota da empresa enviada à Lusa.
De acordo com dados preliminares dos CFM, o acidente terá sido causado por uma “falha de posicionamento dos comboios nas linhas de cruzamento”.
A empresa avançou que foi criada uma comissão de inquérito para “apurar as reais causas do choque” entre os comboios, referindo que a circulação “decorre com normalidade”.
No primeiro semestre deste ano, pelo menos 28 pessoas ficaram feridas, entre graves e ligeiros, na sequência de acidentes envolvendo comboios, tendo sido registados 95 descarrilamentos, 55 atropelamentos e 25 colisões com veículos, indica o último relatório do Ministério dos Transportes e Comunicações de Moçambique.
Entre as causas está a “negligência e desobediência nas passagens de nível, falta de manutenção da sinalização, sabotagem de infraestruturas e a erosão por eventos climáticos”, aponta-se no relatório. (TEXTO: LUSA)
