Através de um despacho assinado na terça-feira, a juíza principal do processo, Aileen Cannon, determinou que o prazo para a realização do julgamento seja de duas semanas a partir de 14 de agosto, acrescentando que, se por qualquer motivo os trabalhos forem adiados, deve acontecer logo que possível.
Segundo a imprensa internacional, o prazo para a defesa e para os procuradores apresentarem requerimentos relativos ao julgamento termina no próximo dia 24 de julho e uma audiência será realizada no dia 08 de agosto para tratar de todas as questões de calendário.
O procurador especial Jack Smith, encarregado da investigação, prometeu que o julgamento contra Trump e contra o seu assessor Walt Nauta, acusado de ser cúmplice do ex-Presidente, será rápido e respeitará “o interesse público e os direitos dos réus”.
Este mês, Trump foi acusado nos tribunais de Miami de 37 crimes federais por deter ilegalmente documentos oficiais após deixar a presidência dos Estados Unidos.
