Durante a estadia do navio Português no Porto de Maputo, várias actividades foram levadas a cabo entre os Fuzileiros moçambicanos e portugueses.
De acordo com o segundo tenente Gervásio da Graça, imediato da Embarcação Umbelúzi, a experiência tem sido agradável, pois são atividades que identificam a vida de um marinheiro e devem fazer parte do dia-a-dia do mesmo.
Na mesma sequência de visitas, o navio Setúbal navegou, realizou exercícios de patrulhas e treinos operativos.
Entretanto, para o segundo sargento fuzileiro António Zuana a troca de experiência entre as equipas portuguesas e Moçambicanas são uma mais-valia, pois vem dinamizar as forças armadas sobretudo na área da marinha.
O navio português recebeu abordos aspirantes a oficial do 15º curso da Academia Militar Marechal Samora Machel na especialidade de engenharia naval, tendo estes aprimorados conhecimentos teóricos com a prática adquiridas durante a formação.
O programa quadro de cooperação no domínio da defesa entre os dois países privilegia a formação por militares portugueses das forças especiais moçambicanas nomeadamente, fuzileiros e comandos, como forma de dar resposta as novas ameaças que se impõem na actualidade.
