Erdogan conseguiu 52% dos votos, enquanto o seu adversário, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, teve 47%. Trata-se de uma vitória mais curta do que era esperado e que denuncia um país que continua polarizado e fraturado entre os que acreditam na visão de Erdogan e os que a abominam.
Na capital Istambul, os apoiantes de Erdogan começaram a festejar ainda antes da chegada dos resultados finais, agitando bandeiras turcas ou do partido no poder e buzinando carros.
O presidente da República portuguesa, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, já felicitou o Presidente turco, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, pela vitória. (Nando Mabica)
