Os acusados que se encontram detidos na 4ª esquadra da cidade de Nampula trocam acusações, uma vez que as mercadorias teriam sido desviadas num lote de mais de 30 toneladas, facto que levou o motorista do veículo após descarregar a mesma a procurar pelas autoridades policiais para apresentar o caso.
Na ocasião, um dos implicados disse que já havia recebido cerca de 1.200.000,00 meticais do comerciante, uma vez que não era a primeira vez que faziam transações do género. Entretanto, o comerciante de nacionalidade congolesa afirmou que não sabia que a mercadoria pertencia a uma empresa e que era óleo roubado, uma vez que interagia com o fiel da carga constantemente e que se apresentava como legítimo proprietário da mercadoria.
No entanto, Zacarias Nacute, Porta-voz da PRM em Nampula, afirmou que foi graças a denúncia do motorista que após fazer o baldeamento da mercadoria na rua França, apercebeu-se que se tratava de uma burla, facto que permitiu que a polícia desencadeia-se uma operação que culminou com a detenção dos indiciados.
